OWWN은 '옷'과 '물건'에 관한 이야기를 모으기 위해 시작했습니다. 그런데 계속 글을 쓰다 보니, 항상 따라붙는 것들이 생겼어요. 시간과 기억, 공간과 도시, 산책과 전시 그리고 정확히 설명하기는 어렵지만, 오래 남은 생각들이 있었습니다.

그래서 OWWN은 옷과 물건을 중심으로 다루되, 그것에만 머무르지 않게 된 온라인 매거진이자 기록의 저장소입니다. 오래 입은 셔츠나 마음에 든 가방, 자꾸 손이 가는 작은 필기구들, 생경한 전시장이나 어느 주말 — 아침 식사를 한 적당히 떠들썩한 카페의 공기와 빛, 걷다가 우연히 마주한 골목 같은 것들 말이죠.

그것을 기억하여 손으로 쓰고, 나중에 다시 떠오르는 장면 같은 것을 함께 기록합니다. 에세이와 단상, 리뷰와 기록이 한곳에 놓이겠지만, 형식보다 먼저 남은 건 대체로 어떤 시점의 사색들입니다.

OWWN은 새로움이나 트렌드를 표방하지는 않아요 (이미 너무 많죠). 대신, 시간이 지난 뒤에 여전히 남은 것들에 더 관심을 둡니다. 오래 쓰여 표면이 달라진 물건들과 지나간 뒤에야 의미가 생긴 옷도 포함합니다. 대단히 세련되지는 않아도, 자꾸 떠오르는 장소라든지, 말보다 먼저 남는 분위기 같은 것 또한 담아내고 싶습니다.

OWWN began as a place for gathering stories about clothes and objects. But as I kept writing, other things kept following close behind. Time and memory, spaces and cities, walks and exhibitions, and thoughts that are difficult to explain clearly yet remain for a long time.

So OWWN became an online magazine and archive of records that begins with clothes and objects, while no longer staying only with them. A shirt worn for years, a bag one happened to grow attached to, small writing tools that one’s hand keeps returning to, the air and light of an unfamiliar exhibition space, or of a café that was just lively enough after breakfast on a weekend morning, an alley encountered by accident while walking.

It remembers such things, writes them down by hand, and records the kinds of scenes that return later without warning. Essays, fragments, reviews, and records may be placed here together, but what tends to remain first is not the form so much as a certain kind of reflection from a certain moment in time.

OWWN does not set out to speak for novelty or trends—there are already more than enough of those. Instead, it is more interested in what still remains after time has passed. This includes objects whose surfaces have changed through long use, and clothes that only begin to mean something after they are gone. It also wants to hold places that are not particularly refined yet return again and again, and atmospheres that stay before words do.

OWWN is a magazine that gathers such scenes slowly, in writing and images.
